Letters from Iwo Jima (2006)

Dirrected by Clint Eastwood
Story and screenplay by Iris Yamashita

Clint Eastwood realized an impressive project. He made two films about the same event. The battle of Iwo Jima, between the United States and Imperial Japan, during World War II, is seen through the eyes of the Americans, in Flags of our Fathers, and from the Japanese point of view, in Letters from Iwo Jima, which is nominee for Oscar prizes. One director, 2 point of views. This film is entirely Japanese, except for Clint Eastwood. Language, actors, screenplay, everything.
And it is perfect this way.

The Queen

The Queen, Oscar nominee for Best Movie, is rather poor compared to the other competitors, especially Babel. Apart from the raw information it delivers about the relationship between Elisabeth II and Tony Blair, it says nothing else. It is worth seeing only as a documentary film about Princess Diana`s tribute brought to her by the British people.
